Bojan: "I like Holland; people aren't arrogant here"

At an age where more than half of Spaniards still live with their parents, Bojan Krkic is starting his seventh season at the top level of football. He's spending this season with the historic Ajax Amsterdam, where he's starting to enjoy football again, and recovering the boyish smile he sported when he first started out.
How are you adjusting to Amsterdam?
It's a good change. It's a great city on many levels. It has a very distinctive culture and a new philosophy, which I'm learning. You notice that Ajax is a club with a special history. It's a big club. They know what they want here and they are very well organised. Working on a daily basis with people like Bergkamp, Stam or Frank de Boer is fantastic, it helps a lot. My spirits are lifting again because I feel like a key part of the team. I feel very happy.
What does Johan Cruyff mean to Holland?
He's an icon here. In fact, the Super Cup is actually named after him. And his influence is noticeable. Every team wants to play good football and has young players. They don't go out to defend. That makes football fun in Holland. And people aren't arrogant here either. Footballers are much more modest and are very positive. The league itself is very appealing.
Is that what attracted you to Ajax?
Yes, you can see it on a national level too. What Italy does is unique. I would compare Holland to Spain. We always train with the ball, whilst in Italy they spend more time preparing for what the opposition will do, on a tactical and physical level.
